Windfall!

Winners of Father’s & Mother’s Day Contest receive cash prizes

Winning contestants for the Father’s & Mother’s Day Contest jointly organized by ADUN Subang Jaya and SJ Echo received their cash prizes sponsored by the ADUN Subang Jaya’s office last month.
With smiles showing broadly across their faces, the winners received their prize from ADUN Subang Jaya Hannah Yeoh.
Mother’s & Father’s Day Contest (Adult Category)

1st Prize: RM1,500 cash prize – Chen Li Ling (USJ3)
MUM, I LOVE YOU BECAUSE...You never left us... never on our own, never alone!
1960s. The world was recovering from World War Two. Dad was offered a job, based in Kuching. Being the sole breadwinner, he had no choice but to pack us up for the move. Way back then, shifting to East Malaysia was considered a HUGE move! Everyone had to adjust to their new surrounding, making new friends. While we were there, Dad was traveling extensively around the world. Thought Mum was silly... wasting opportunities to travel! Recently, I was told the truth -She didn't want to leave us, without both parents!

2nd Prize:RM1,000 cash prize – Chen Heuy Gin (USJ13)
Mum, I love you because you saved my life before! You risked your life to stop the car that hit me. I was dragged underneath it. You shouted for help and pulled me out from it. You kept calling “Gin! Please wake up.” When I opened my eyes I saw you shivering. But, you still give me your warm by hugging me even though my clothing was covered with blood. After the incident, you didn’t sleep well for months and lost weight. Now I am a mother of two girls, I will shower them with love just like you.
3rd Prize :RM500 cash prize - Terence Theva Raj (USJ3)
Mum, I love you because when I was very sick as an infant, you walked from door to door in the middle of the night, looking for help to send me to the hospital. You prayed at various temples and churches, making pleas to various deities. You offered twenty years of your own life in exchange for mine. Mum, no one can walk a mile in your shoes, because no one is strong enough.

Mother’s & Father’s Day Contest (Below 18 Category)

1st Prize: RM1,500 cash prize - Wong Eu Gene (USJ12)
Mum, I love you because not of the tireless effort of yours to get me to clean up every morning or preparing those mouth watering dishes whenever I got back from school but because you were there every time to carry me up whenever I fall. When the world somehow just seems to be against me, you would shelter me from them in your loving arms and offering words that describes a better tomorrow. So till this day, the reason I keep striving and fighting on is because I believe what you told me of tomorrow will certainly come true.
2nd Prize:RM1,000 cash prize – Veronica Tan (Subang Perdana Court 6)
Dad, I love you because you are a very special person. Patience. This is the amazing quality you have. You are apprehensive by my academic progress. But yet, I score badly. When I tell you the examination result, I know your hope for me fades from time to time. Although you always replied me with a smile and encouraging words but deep inside your heart, there is an unbearable pain that only you could feel. I never see tears falling from your eyes. I want you to know that I have a very very tough and protective father. Thank you, father.

3rd Prize :RM500 cash prize - Yap Yi Peng (USJ11)
Mum, I love you because you’re my personal chauffeur, chef, and so much more. But most importantly, you’re my hero. You can fix any problem within a blink of an eye, it’s really scary. You shown me kindness, gratitude, and the best of all, love. The way you pick me up when I fall, stay with me all night when I’m sick. Spending extra for my clothing obsession and music classes, even if you have to work overtime. You support me and is always there to help me. I love you very much and, I want noodles for lunch tomorrow.
