Enough is Enough, say SS19/6 residents

Gwo-Burne speaking to reporters on the concern over the rising crime incidences in SS19. Behind him are residents who met him to voice their fear.

COMPLAINING about rising crime in your neighbourhood without lifting a finger to curb it should stop, says Kelana Jaya MP Loh Gwo-Burne.

"Residents should get together and form their groups. They should organise themselves to find ways they can deter crime together with the authorities," he said, during a meeting with concerned residents living in SS19 especially those living near the commercial lots around SS19/6.

He offered his assistance to any group willing to stand up to take the first step forward.

Gwo-Burne said security in Subang Jaya was in dire straits but both authorities and residents seem to be indifferent to it.

SS19 resident Titus Eravelly who voiced his concern said crime was on the increase in the area with burglars entering via rooftops and snatch thieves having a field day.

When asked if he was aware of the recent dialogue on crime and safety organised by JKP Zone 1, Titus said he was not.

"I am not even aware that we have a representative from SS19 in this so called JKP Zone 1," he added.

Another resident who only wanted to be known as Saru said she had witnessed a woman falling victim to snatch thieves.

"I see men on motorcycles circling around in the neighbourhood and they look suspicious."

"The situation has gotten worse lately," she said.
