USJ RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION WELCOMES PARK PLAN, REJECTS RESIDENTIAL PROJECT PROPOSAL
Taman Subang Ria Park is of concern to all residents living in the townships of Subang Jaya and USJ as many uses it for daily recreational purposes as Sime Darby Property Bhd has failed to provide additional similar or equivalent facility elsewhere despite the population growing to more than 300,000. Most have to rely on Taman Ria Park, hence our concern for its future.
We, at USJ Residents Association is strongly opposed to any development of the park for residential and/or commercial purposes and is adamant that it should remain as stated in the land title ie purely for recreational purposes. Any development is strictly to enhance and promote its use for recreation only.
We welcome the proposed upgrading of the park by SDPD but it should not be a trade-off in lieu of the residents and the relevant authorities agreeing to develop a designated area for residential use.
Over the years SDPB has come up with numerous proposals to re-develop the park, which we believe were influenced by commercial consideration and profit.
This time around is no different. It is timely that residents in the respective townships demand that the park be gazetted once and for all as a “green lung for the purpose of recreation only". We also demand that SDPB fulfill their obligation and social responsibility to house buyers and residents by adhering to the following with respect to Taman Ria Park " :-
1. Maintain the park solely as it was intended as stated in the land title that is for the sole purpose of recreational use
2. Do not over develop the said area as it will cause further congestion and pollution especially in the already congested SS 12 and surrounding areas
3. Up-hold role of leading developer by setting the right example to upgrade the park with improved facilities for recreational purposes only
