DEVELOPERS NEED TO LEARN COMMON SENSE

Have we become stupid?  Yes, I said it.  Have we?  Have we thought that such so called development we see in Subang Jaya is worthy of the negative sum?
Have I caught you attention?  Let us sit awhile and think.  Think 10 to 15 years ago.  There were tree lined roads then.  Vehicular traffic was good and we lived in quite a harmonious neighbourhood. There were possibilities of us crossing roads to visit the adjacent tamans.  SS13 was easily crossed to and from SS14.  USJ 2 and 3 were easily reachable.
Fast forward to today, we see more trees cut down in the name of development. Recently, I saw missing trees in front of the USJ Digital Mall at USJ19.  Perhaps there was a reason for this?  The new Kelana Link has just opened.  I wonder if common sense was used in planning as the roads are very dangerous.
The road fronting Carrefour with the new ramp to the Subang airport is very dangerous.  The main road is small and the ramp is just after the Carrefour bus stop.  It also fronts a residential area ie Casa Tiara, E Tiara and Subang Avenue.  This is a potential accident creator and can kill.  Cars can collide.
The same could be said of the roads ramping down towards the roundabout fronting Metropolitan College beside SDMC.  How could one design a road ramp leading towards the roundabout which is perpetually jammed?  This ramp caters for traffic from Kelana Jaya.
The road from USJ towards the roundabout fronting Metropolitan College has now 2 ramps sandwiching the main road to the said roundabout. The left ramp goes to Sunway and the right ramp goes to the Kelana Link.  There is chaos in the morning as even now we have drivers criss-crossing.  To make matters worse, the Kesas traffic also feeds onto the same vein.
Do we notice a trend?  What is the purpose for the road?  Is it to alleviate the traffic jams?  The road is still jammed.  Is it supposed to provide convenience to the population of Subang Jaya? I cannot see it but I think not. I am more inconvenienced now.
Green Subang Jaya should now be dubbed concrete Subang Jaya.  Also, what is this about the Telekom land in USJ to be developed?  And the Subang Ria Park?  I hear that Subang Ria is proposed to be partially developed in exchange to fully convert the other sections into a full park?  Why should we bargain?  It should be the right of Subang Jayans to decide on what they want.  Not anyone else.
I do not trust developers. I do not trust authorities. I trust the people of Subang Jaya.  If none will take the heed to unite and speak up and cower behind the fear of being bullied then you have no reason to complain.  I hope many will stand up to the nonsense and lack of common sense to respect the environment and the quiet enjoyment of our properties and the community in which we live in.
I am fed up.  I am fed up with the increasing crime and the blatant disregard for urgency on the part of the authorities to improve our security and the safety of our community.
How dare they say that we have to also do our part to prevent crime?  What with? We have no weapons and we are no experts.  We have common sense but what is that when crime lords become braver? We work daily and we are not rich.  Most are working parents.  Most of the time children are alone at home, with the nanny or those who have maids will have them at home.
Now we have to fork out more for higher density grilles,  super tough locks, auto gates, alarm systems and now a security guard.  And some joker will say we have to do more?  I feel like cursing now.
Doors are barged into. Gates are pushed. We cry for help.  We make the reports yet we seem to receive no urgency or concern.  I do not know how many cases have been solved as I find SJ Alert is filled with crime news.
So those who still say we should do more…I ask, what have the authorities done?  What have the councilors done to help push this crime away?
I do not care about raids to illegal dvd centres, massage parlours and gambling outlets.  What about the crime for goodness sake?  What about the traffic for goodness sake?  What about clearing our dirty drains for goodness sake?  I want to live in a safe Subang Jaya.  I do not want to live in a crime ridden Subang Jaya.  I want to live in a green Subang Jaya.  Not a hot, concrete one.
I would like to suggest that those with influence concentrate on the following for Subang Jaya.
a.    Security and safety
b.    Environmental respect
c.    A good traffic and transport system for all including the physically challenged
It is such basic things that we lack now.  I write this with anger. I wish to also state that things are being pushed at the expense of most Subang Jayans who have properties, who have rented and still living here.  This disease of diminishing common sense by town planners, developers and those who approved them has made it to USJ as well. Why do we continue to allow ourselves to be used this way?
I am not against development.  I want it if it BENEFITS THE RESIDENTS AND BUSINESS COMMUNITY of Subang Jaya.  But tell me, do all the recent developments benefit us at all?  Or have we got more negatives?  I have to now pay to be secure.  Once we have a single community, now we are divided by the necessary Gated and Guarded Communities.
I am going for a jog at Subang Ria Park now.  This is the only place where sanity seems to dwell.  Now, it is in itself in danger of being removed from the people in a bargain.  Some will give an aye.  Some will not.
Have we looked at ourselves in the mirror today? Do we like what we see?  Have we lost our conscience and common sense?
