SIXTEEN councillors for the Subang Jaya Municipal Council have been sworn in with four new faces joining the team.
Twelve councillors from the previous term were retained while eight more seats are yet to be filled.
MPSJ president Dato Adnan Md Ikshan who led the swearing in ceremony said the councillors would not be designated with any of the 24 zones in the municipality as yet.
"We will wait until the end of this month before deciding who goes where. This is to give time for the eight more seats to be filled before we decide who takes charge of the zones," he told reporters after the ceremony.
Adnan said priority for assigning the zones would be given to councillors based on how familiar they were with the areas.
"All the 24 seats do not have to be filled. Every full board meeting we have monthly has to have at least 8 councillors present to make the quorum."
"The reappointed councillors will not necessarily be taking charge of the zones they were previously in charge of," he said.
On whether the reappointed councillors were given a second term because they performed well, Adnan said the selection was made by the State Government.
"The performance of the councillors is up to residents to gauge and decide," he said.
The reappointment of Ismail Kamal, the councillor in charge of JKP Zone 3 which covers most parts of USJ came as a surprise as many residents had complained that he had hardly been seen or attended to the various issues and complains from the former.
"I am surprised he is reappointed. He was never around for us and even the JKP he was given to set up does not even exist," said the resident who declined to be identified.
