BABY GIRL FOUND ABANDONED IN USJ2

18 June 2009

USJ2 resident Mohd Zain Idris found a bundled package at 630am this morning when coming home from the nearby mosque.

In the darkness of the wee hours of the morning, Mohd Zain had thought it was a kitten left with a bag in front of his house gate but upon closer examination found a little baby instead.

"I went out at 540am to do my prayers and when I returned I saw something moving in the bundle and thought it was a kitten."

"I was shocked when I saw a baby when I approached my gate," he said, adding that there was a bag with newly bought baby's clothes, mittens, napkins, milk powder and even a baby feeding bottle.

"The water in the feeding bottle was still warm. The baby was clean with her umbilical cord still attached and wrapped in a tissue."

"I also found a RM1 note. We waited for an hour before we called the police hoping the mother would come back for her," he told SJ Echo.

The little baby girl was fast asleep when police officers and medical personnel from the Serdang Hospital took her away for further tests.

USJ8 Police Station officer-in-charge Chief Inspector Loi Yew Lik who was present said the baby would be sent to the hospital for checks.

"The baby looks clean and we suspect she is just 1 or 2 days old. Anyone with more information can call the USJ 8 police station," he said.
