Residents help MPSJ plant 90 trees in their neighbourhood

IT took 40 USJ11 residents one and a half hours to plant 90 trees in their neighbourhood last weekend in conjunction with the coming World Environment Day on June 5.
Joined by ADUN Subang Jaya Hannah Yeoh and Subang Jaya Municipal Council deputy assistant director (landscape) Azlina Mat Salim, residents planted 90 of the Bucida molineti also known as the Dwarf Geometry Tree or Spiny Black Olive tree.
The spots for the planting were earlier prepared by MPSJ who also supplied compost fertilizer for the trees planted.
Hannah who spent her time to plant several trees with residents said she planned to have more trees planted in Subang Jaya.
“The best place to start planting trees is in our own neighbourhood. Greening Subang Jaya will be one of my major thrusts.”
“Hopefully in five year’s time we will have a greener Subang Jaya,” she said.
Azlina said the council would assist any residents group who wanted to plant trees in their area.
“We will be watering the 90 trees we just planted here twice a day to ensure their survival in the early stages of planting,” she said.
