Haphazard Parking Problem along SS12/1A Solved

Barriers placed to prevent motorists from parking along road shoulder
THREE adjacent roads around the Sime Darby Medical Centre (formerly known as Subang Jaya Medical Centre) in SS12 have been placed with barriers in a bid to deter indiscriminate parking along the road shoulders.
Notorious for traffic congestion caused by irresponsible motorists who park their cars anywhere they wished, Jalan SS12/1, SS12/1A and SS12/4 is now pleasantly free of such scenes.
Barriers placed in the middle of the road clearly demarcate each side of the road, making it impossible for anyone to disregard it and conveniently park their vehicles along the stretch.
This decision was made by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council after a meeting with the Residents Committee (JKP) Zone 1 and the hospital authorities.
“We plan to construct sleeping kerbs with flexible posts to replace the temporary barriers.”
“It is a workable way of managing the traffic along this stretch,” ADUN Subang Jaya Hannah Yeoh said during a site visit to check on the effectiveness of the initiative.
She appealed to the public to park properly in the designated parking lots.
“This is an emergency area and also a residential area. MPSJ will strictly enforce the law here and will not hesitate to throw the book at those who flout it,” she said.
Soon, indiscriminately parked cars will be towed by MPSJ.
This initiative however, has caused adjacent roads to experience congestion.
Motorists who used to park along the roads which now have barriers continue to double-park in the nearby commercial area in SS12, causing bottleneck situations and arguments.
