GIVE IT A CHANCE, SAYS ADUN

ADUN urges residents to allow traffic change along Persiaran Murni a chance
MOTORISTS and residents alike should give the trial traffic flow change along Persiaran Murni which took effect on May 1 a chance before shooting it down, says ADUN Subang Jaya Hannah Yeoh.
“The exercise is based on a professional study carried out by IKRAM and we should give it a chance to see if it works.”
“If it doesn’t work, we will revert to status quo,” Hannah said.
The Persiaran Murni traffic scheme was introduced to coordinate and accommodate the heavy traffic flow along Persiaran Tujuan.
By not allowing the U-turn at Persiaran Murni junction in the mornings, the authorities want to reduce car volume on Persiaran Tujuan and ease this main road off the morning jam.
Residents, however, will have to travel a longer distance and will be diverted into the residential areas.
Hannah said the new trial system would be implemented from Mondays to Fridays from 6.30am to 9.30am.
“Traffic builds up as early as 6.30am when parents send their school-going children to school.”
“We have nothing to lose by trying this new scheme. Traffic policemen will be on site to assist,” she said.
Hannah gave the assurance that the trial scheme would be reviewed after the month is up.
“Everyone wants it easy for themselves. We have all got to come to a compromise.”
“The authorities are committed to find a solution to traffic woes in Subang Jaya,” she added.

Traffic along Persiaran Tujuan, just before the traffic lights at Persiaran Murni was smooth. This picture was taken at 7.15am.
A quick check on the traffic flow just before 6.30am on Monday showed many vehicles still using the U-turn.

Vehicles coming from SS19 were attempting to U-turn at the junction just before 6.30am
However, just right after 6.30am when a traffic policeman stationed himself there with several traffic cones, traffic was diverted towards USJ4 where vehicles were allowed to U-turn.
Many vehicles signalled to U-turn at the traffic light junction but immediately sent off by the police and MPSJ officers stationed there.
Traffic flow was generally smooth and by 8.15am, vehicular traffic was smooth at the Persiaran Murni and even SS19/6 junction according to MPSJ officials who monitored the situation with IKRAM officers as well.
