SPATES of robbery and crime committed by Mat Rempits in Subang Jaya have riled up the wrath of the police.
The police have mounted a day and night hunt for Mat Rempit gangs who appear to be playing a hide and seek game with the men in blue.
Several robberies and assault cases happening in the wee hours of the morning that have been blamed on these groups of motorcyclists who are suspected to be from Kampung Medan and even as far away as Pantai Dalam, has stirred the anger among residents here.
Earlier last week, a police inspector was hurt when he was knocked by Mat Rempits during a police sting.
On April 30, another officer was hurt in Puchong Prima during an operations codenamed "Ops Lawlessness", according to Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Zainal Rashid.
The inspector was trying to flag down a motorcyclist who decided to elude the roadblock.
"The suspect tried to escape and in the ensuing drama, the inspector sustained injuries on his hand and leg."
"The two indonesian nationals were finally caught after a struggle with the police," he said, adding that the two were suspected Mat Rempits.
Zainal said police were not deterred by the incidences. Instead they are more determined to step up their law enforcement work especially on Mat Rempits.
"Those who flout traffic laws will be brought to book," he said.
In the wee hours of May 1, the police launched a major operations in Subang Jaya, USJ and Bandar Sunway.
Roadblocks were set up at strategic locations while plainclothes and uniformed personnel went on a major swoop of the three areas to weed out the Mat Rempits as well as others who may have crime on their mind.
