Tell Us What Trees to Plant at Millenium Park, says YDP

RESIDENTS of Subang Jaya are urged to provide suggestions to the
Subang Jaya Municipal Council on what trees the council should plant
to turn the failed Millennium Park into a green zone.
Council president, Datuk Adnan Md Ikshan made the request when
contacted by Malay Mail on the council's plans. Checks on Sunday
showed the 1.066-acre land had been fully cleared.
He assured the council had no commercial plans for the land and
confirmed it was sticking to reverting the land back into a green
zone.
"We are now studying the layout and sourcing the right trees. We
welcome public feedback on landscaping ideas, trees and such."
He added that the council had decided to use the RM200,000 it was
recently awarded for receiving the four-star rating in the
government's yearly grading system as seed fund for the project.
Then, Adnan said, the council would not have to take much from own
funds, which can be reserved for more pressing needs.
"In case any emergency, such as a landslide, were to occur, or if
there is need for any major works to be done, we would have to take
back funds set aside to turn Millennium Park into a green zone."
The council also welcomed contributions from members of the public.
Even items like park benches, chairs and tables would be deeply
appreciated.
On Feb 26, Malay Mail reported the council had finally begun
demolishing structures left at the long abandoned Millennium Park in
SS13 Subang Jaya.
The RM3 million failed project, the 1999 brainchild of then council
president Datuk Ahmad Fuad Ismail, was intended to be a "City in the
Garden", a fully landscaped park, complete with food court and modern
facilities.
That however never materialised.
