Wesak Day Celebrations cum Charity Sale at Summit USJ

BUDDHIST disciples will once again have a chance to celebrate Wesak Day at The Summit USJ from May 8 to 10.
Together with the Dharma Light Buddhist Association of Malaysia, the shopping centre will host a series of activities –the Buddha bath Dover significance; offering of candles; Dharma talk; calligraphy exhibits of Master Hui Hai; stage performances; children’s drawing contest and a charity sale.
Minister of Transport Dato Seri Ong Tee Keat is expected to launch the celebrations on May 8.
According to the event organizing chairman Xuan Ren, the society hoped to raise RM105,000 from the 3-day event. All proceeds will be channeled to Buddha Dharma University in Ampang.
“Members of the public who show up for the event is also encouraged to bring their own food containers and bags. This is to encourage reducing their use of plastic during the event,” he said.
Vegetarian food will be served and sold during the event.
Malaysian Book of Records holder, pianist Priscilla Chen, 16 will be performing a piano solo during the weekend event.
Xuan Ren said the society hoped institutions or individuals who wished to contribute consumables for sale, purchase the charity sale coupons or provide assistance during the event can contact Mdm Yip at 019-318 2892 (contributions in kind); Mrs Chin at 012 3232 892 (purchase of coupons).
