VEGETARIAN DELIGHT AT MOON GARDEN CAFé, USJ

by Anthony Dylan
1 April 2009

Most of us are quite new to vegetarian fare. However, I found this neat little establishment on the same row as KFC, Pizza Uno and Indian Heritage quite interesting.

Vegetarian dishes are normally either purely vegan or those with egg. Of course, there are different types of vegetarians.  There are quite a few good vegetarian restaurants and cafes in Subang Jaya and in USJ.

This month, I would like to share with you my experience in one.  I went to Moon Garden Café for this reason to try out their vegetarian fare. Moon Garden Café is at No 47, Jalan USJ 10/1A in Taipan, USJ.

They have quite a good selection of bakery items and those with eggs will have an icon of an egg beside it.  This is very thoughtful.  They also have a good selection of noodles and rice based dishes.  The vegetarian fare also includes mock meat and seafood.

I took a mock bacon bread and a mock meat floss bun. I also ordered their spicy curry mee and a green tea chai latte.  The mock bacon and mock meat floss buns were very good.  However, the mock bacon bun was a bit sweet.

Then there is the curry mee.  That is another thing.  The taste was perfect.  The curry was spicy and rich. The tofu, long beans and the mock prawns made a beautiful addition. I would recommend this to anyone.  It tasted so good to me that it rivals that of the best non vegetarian ones.

The restaurant is air-conditioned and the décor is simple. They also have a good variety of vegetarian dim sum.  As I had to pack some lunch back, I ordered some dim sum and the spicy mock prawn rice.  The dim sum is ordinary.  The rice was good with the spicy sour sauce.  The mock prawns added texture and spring to the bite.

This is one delightful discovery for good and delicious vegetarian fare.  So, make a date and go meatless. Try Moon Garden Café and my favourite, the curry mee.  I hope you enjoy the food discovery as I did.
