Watch Your Step!
Exposed Cables at Work Sites Could be Dangerous

A TNB team checking the exposed cable before taking measures to secure it.
THE next time you walk near places under renovation or undergoing repairs, watch out for those cables jutting out from the ground.
Avoid them by all means and do not take the risk of touching or stepping on them.
Luckily for many residents who stay along Jalan SS14/1 in Subang Jaya, an exposed cable lying on the floor of a bus stop did not claim any lives or cause injury.
Repair works along the stretch of drain between Persiaran Jengka-SS14/1 had resulted in damage to a cable, exposing its ends on the floor of a bus stop.
Customers and also the owner of a restaurant in the vicinity claimed to have seen sparks from the cable late in the night, prompting them to call for help initially from MPSJ and subsequently from TNB.
"We saw sparks and it was then that we realised a damaged cable was exposed at the bus stop which is a popular spot for residents to sit around leisurely or when waiting for a bus," a resident said.

MPSJ's E-Response team arriving at the scene.
Fortunately, no one stepped on it.
MPSJ's E-Response team who rushed to the site found the damage was beyond their capability to handle.
TNB later sent their technicians and it was then confirmed that the cable was full of "juice" running through it.
The men then took measures to secure the cable while trying to look for the other end of the cut cable.
Until the time this story was posted, the cable has been securely taped while awaiting proper repairs to be done.
