Badge of Honour?

March is here. How do we feel folks? Subang Jaya will finally get the huge highway in front of SS14 and SS13 built. Soil tests for the ever delayed LRT are being done.
The councillors are still missing from action. Apart from the campaign on rats and some other noble work, it remains to be seen where Subang Jaya is going.
Just look around us. The longkang issues as well as the issues of playable field, not just “lighted up fields” are still in sorry state. Yet, we claim to be proud Subang Jayans. How so?
Dengue is still a menace. I know our YB Hannah Yeoh is trying her best but what about the councillors? What are your plans? How do we help if councillors do not seem to be around?
So far, again I ask, any concrete plans for Subang Jaya? All I see is more “concrete” being built. No new trees except nearer MPSJ. Traffic is still bad. The “birdy park” is still a sad reminder.
Let me see, Subang Jaya has many other things still neglected. SS13, SS14 and SS15 have rubbish in drains and in alleyways. Is that our idea of “clean”. Subang Jayans are at fault too as no one seemed to care as they always have the thought that someone else would do the work.
Of course rats will come. Rats will come the size of cats and we still litter. Also, just remembered about the highlighted story on SS13’s rat issue. What happened? Any solution or just talk? I am sure cobras and pythons will come soon as rats are their favourite.
That is the gist of rage here. We talk and talk and nothing concrete is ever communicated and acted upon. We want the badge of honour to serve but we never appear to do the work.
Talking about badges, did we notice the state of our large Taman signage? Notice how clean it is? Please do have a look at the picture. We claim to be proud but small things we do not seem to care. We care about the most mundane things like LRT. This signage is one of the best things done by MPSJ. It helps one identify a Taman and very useful for visitors and taxi drivers.
We talk about the bigger picture and when our proud signage is scarred with dirt and stickers, it is okay. Not important. Nice attitude is that not? How do we expect to improve when the basics are neglected?
At this point of time, the LRT should not take precedence over good bus transportation. If the bus transport cannot be improved even within a modern city of Subang Jaya, why would one think that the LRT would be done well?
Perhaps we have become stone hearted and selfish. If you do not believe me, ask what your neighbour thinks or the man on the street of what is important in Subang Jaya? The answer may be very frank.
Also, we have so many high rise buildings and I noticed in SS15, the plot near Metropolitan and the Post Office has stopped work. I am sure councillors sit in the MPSJ meetings and why no news on new builds and failed builds given to the public? Taxis have now lined up the road adjacent to this stalled project and cause traffic jams. The authorities prefer to summon those with expiring tickets but not those on no parking zones. What is this?
At night, some bus stops have no lightings still. Most roads need the road markings done as these have faded. I only see some work done on certain stretches.
In USJ, the problem of traffic and the issue of the flyover still loom in USJ3. The back lanes of Taipan are the same. Have a look at the lane behind Victoria Station , Taipan.
I shake my head in disbelief as I write this. I hope the community reads this. I hope the councillors read this. I hope the ADUN reads this. I hope all share that this is our fallacy and we must work on theses issue.
Safety is a great concern as well. Some Tamans have hired their own security detail. Some foreigners have taken up foodstalls. Some even bought houses and became landlords. Are we so greedy that we sell without regard?
Is this our Subang Jaya that we want? I feel enraged. Sad that the social fabric is disintegrating in exchange for non activity and insensitiveness. Have we looked at the mirror today? Do we like what we see?
