Illegal DVD Outlets Get No Reprieve from MPSJ

Over the past week, illegal DVD outlets have had no reprieve from MPSJ.

The wrath of a local council fed up with the mushrooming of such outlets all over Subang Jaya and USJ could be felt with a huge wave of enforcement acitivities wiping out and shutting down outlets.

Earlier this week, a DVD shop owner operating behind closed shutters in SS19 was caught by surprise when MPSJ enforcement officers led by its enforcement director Mohd Zulkurnain B. Che Ali swooped in.

The bountry was huge - more than 10,000 DVDs worth at least RM70,000 were confiscated by the officers. The whole shop was wiped clean including the racks, to deter any attempts to resume business within a short time.

What's more amazing is the amount of pornographic material found in the stacks of DVDs and CDs in the shop.

According to Mohd Zulkurnain, the shop was unlicensed.

Earlier in the evening, an illegal cybercafe in USJ1 Subang Permai was shut down with all it's hardware confiscated and carted away.

This was the third visit MPSJ had made to the outlet but confiscating their computers appear to fail in deterring them from starting all over.
