LUCK was on the side of MPSJ councilor Roslan Shahir Datuk Mohd Shahir when he led his JKP Zone 4 team and the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) on his maiden rounds to address the issue of licensing hawkers and traders around USJ1 Angsana flats.

A visit to a shop selling DVDs became the night's bounty for the group when they stumbled upon pornographic DVDs in the shop.

Not only was the shop owner selling such materials, the council also discovered that he had no license to sell DVDs as the business was registered as a computer shop.

More than RM25,000 worth of DVDs and racks were ordered confiscated by MPSJ licensing director Ismail Salim who was also present during the operations.

Roslan said the objective of the walk about was to meet traders and business operators who were mostly unlicensed.

"We wanted to speak and advise them to license their business. It's part of our awareness initiative to educate these traders and to reassure them that the process was a simple matter."

"Instead, we stumbled upon this outlet which sold DVDs without license and subsequently found stacks of pornographic DVDs being sold quite openly," he said.

He said it was unhealthy to have such materials readily available and openly being sold in a populated area.

Many of the DVDs bearing a FINAS certificate appeared dubious and the authencity of the certificates could not be verified.

The shop owner was slapped with a compound, had his goods carted away and his premises sealed.
