Proclamation of Independence Featured Prominently in Hotel Lobby

CELEBRATING Merdeka has always been special to every Malaysian in and outside the country.

It's the time of the year to hoist the Jalur Gemilang and feel proud to be a Malaysian.

This year however, Holiday Villa Hotel & Suites Subang has done it differently.

The brainchild of its general manager Abdul Halim Ismail, a huge framed photograph of the Proclamation of Independence showing Bapa Malaysia Tunku Abdul Rahman signing the document with other officials present.

“This year, I thought it would be nice to remind our hotel guests of how we got our Independence. It wasn't through war or bloodshed.”

“It was all done through negotiations and finally the signing of a document, with a pen,” he told the Malay Mail.

A replica of the Proclamation of Independence is also exhibited at the lobby for hotel guests to read.

Abdul Halim said it was the hotel's way of celebrating Merdeka by creating awareness amongst Malaysians on the labour of love of past leaders in giving everyone what they have today.

Apart from the photograph, which is adorned by two huge Jalur Gemilang beside it, the hotel has also put flags on the exterior of the building.
