A note to our councillors
Dear Councillors,
It is now the month of August. This is the month where Malaysia celebrates her independence. It is the celebration of Merdeka. Come 31st August 2008, we will celebrate 51 years of independence. Then on 16th September 2008, we will also celebrate the birth of Malaysia as it was that day in the year 1963, that Malaysia was formed.
We have lived in peace, with many promises and opportunities. We have tasted the sweet and the sour.
Subang Jaya. A township rapidly developed and is still being developed. As a citizen of Subang Jaya, I would like to put forth my note to you my dear councillors on what I would like to see.
I would like to feel SAFE.
Please help us create a safe environment to live in. There are just too many break-ins, car thefts, snatch thieves and armed robberies in Subang Jaya. Please also advise the police to have more empathy when dealing with our reports as it can be quite scary to go to the police station. Also, please help ensure that police stations are safe havens.
I would like to have SMOOTHER TRAFFIC
The traffic jams in Subang Jaya have never ended ever since I moved into Subang Jaya. In the 1990s, the traffic congestion was limited to Jalan Jengka and Jalan Kewajipan but has become worse over the years and affects areas such as USJ and Jalan Tujuan now. The construction of the flyover near Metropolitan College has created even longer and worse jams. Can you please help improve this condition as it is very difficult to reach USJ now?
I would like to see more GREENERY
In the 1990s, Subang Jaya had beautiful greenery. Jalan Subang Utama, which is between SS17 and SS18, used to be beautifully lined with trees. Now, these are gone after the flyovers were built. The only beautiful area now is Persiaran Murni, which is between USJ2 and USJ5. I am sure one day some fellow will take these down as well in the name of development. Please make sure we have these trees planted and emphasise this in all existing developments.
I want to us to have better PUBLIC TRANSPORT AND STOPS
We used to joke that to live in Subang Jaya, you must have a car in the 1980s and early 1990s. It has not improved since. The bus stops are also not covered, not properly lit and not easily accessible by the public. More often than not, we do not even know it is a bus stop. I think bus stops must be at every main road and any pedestrian bridge should also have a bus stop. We have a few but really, these are not enough. I want to see buses well taken care of and well driven. I want to also see buses on time.
I want all BROKEN DRAIN COVERS FIXED
These are aplenty in Subang Jaya and pose a danger to the residents as anyone can just slip and fall.
I want CLEANER EATERIES
Please relocate the stalls near the 3C building to a food area. Maybe they can move to SS15’s new market. That area should either be a carpark or a small park. There are also many eateries which have very bad kitchens and backlanes. Please make sure these are clean. Otherwise the rats will eat our cats!
I would like to see BETTER FACILITIES FOR THE PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED
These are important especially when we want to promote walks around our townships.
I want Subang Jaya to have better PEDESTRIAN PAVEMENTS
We should enforce the building of pavements by developers so we all can enjoy walking again.
MPSJ should stop playing football at night
I want MPSJ to stop PLAYING FOOTBALL AT NIGHT AND WASTING ELECTRICITY
I have seen this all too often. I think it would be better for MPSJ to set a good example by not switching on the floodlights and use the fields in the day only.
I would like us to have a FULL SCALE LIBRARY
I do not want to go to the Hypermedia Library in Taipan. It is not good enough. I want us to have a full library. I think 3C should be converted into a Subang Jaya library. There are so many students in Subang Jaya and with so many schools and colleges as well as the Monash University, it is time we had a library. It would also inculcate the habit of reading, research as well as art appreciation. This library could also include a centre for performing arts or an art appreciation centre.
I want the ADUN, MP and ALL COUNCILLORS TO STATE THEIR PLANS FOR SUBANG JAYA
This would help inform us on the plans and the timeline. I have had enough of all the recent nonsensical talk and empty promises. We want to see some concrete plans. I also want to know each person’s portfolio or the relevant contact persons so that we know who to contact when there’s a need.
I do hope my notes to you councillors here are being considered for action soonest possible.
Thank you.
