Tiara Beach Resort Wins Top 3 National Safety and Health Award 2007
As the dust settled from the intense competition, the victors of the National Safety and Health Award 2007, conforming to all aspects in occupational safety and health, emerged.
It was truly a proud moment for Tiara Beach Resort, Port Dickson to grab the Top 3 National Safety and Health Award for year 2007 under the Hotels & Restaurants category last month at Dewan Merdeka PWTC, Kuala Lumpur.
Under the stewardship of its Occupational Safety and Health adviser Kelvin Cheong, who is also the resort's general manager, together with its chairman Peter Law, the team represented Negeri Sembilan at the national level annual contest.
Cheong said, "My team and I are very motivated in winning this national safety and health award. Indeed, it didn't come easy. It all began two years ago when we implemented safety measures which included preparing for emergencies, regular fire drills, training in general safety principles and dealing with chemicals and identifying potential hazards in the hotel before installing systems to deal with the dangers.”
“I wish to take this opportunity to thank the state government of Negeri Sembilan for their support in shaping and opening up opportunities, resulting in high recognition of Tiara Beach Resort for what it is today. Working alongside, together we keep the state flag flying high.”
“With this award, Tiara Beach Resort is a resort of choice for many large international and domestic companies which emphasises the importance of safety for their staff and guests, be it at seminars or meetings, social gatherings or family day,” he added.
The event which was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was well attended by over 1,500 guests from various fields which included hoteliers, restaurateurs, entrepreneurs and working professionals from the manufacturing sector, fisheries, forestry, transportation and communication and the media.
D'Tiara Corp group managing director and CEO Pua Yow Liang congratulated Cheong and his team for the award.
