The 5th National Diabolo Challenge – Kuala Lumpur/Selangor Round was held last month at The Summit Subang USJ.
The competition was held to promote better understanding of cultural exchanges between various nationalities and also to establish self-confidence among its participants.
The participants with the highest score will join the National finals. All state finalists will gather at The Summit Subang USJ to compete for the National title on 6th & 7th December 2008.
Master Feng Yaping learnt the art of diabolo after his graduation in Taiwan and since then, has been travelling all over to share his experiences as well as to conduct diabolo demonstrations to the public.
Diabolo developed from the Chinese yoyo, which was originally standardized in the 12th century. The diabolo is a traditional Chinese performance prop and folk toy. A string runs between 2 sticks held in the hands, and is used to support and accelerate the spinning diabolo.
Together with Yang Zhengzong and Cai JinChang from Taiwan, they have always discussed and shared their knowledge of diabolo and also activities which they can do to create more awareness in Malaysia.
With the rapid growth of diabolo, it has turned into a competitive and entertaining sport. Today, there are more proficient players and fast-paced diabolo has proven to be a sport interesting to all ages.
