Stop All Plans for More Commercial Buildings in Subang Jaya, says ADUN

With no light at the end of the tunnel to solving the incessant traffic problems and congestion in Subang Jaya, the latest proposed 9-storey commercial building in USJ6, fronting Persiaran Perpaduan, has struck a raw nerve with residents as well as Subang Jaya ADUN Hannah Yeoh.
Residents and Hannah alike have called for a stop to the project, making it clear that "enough is enough" to all commercial development in Subang Jaya until a solution can be found to address traffic issues and problems that come along with it.
"I am against the proposal to build the commercial building. Is there a further need for more commercial buildings around us?"
"Already traffic is at a standstill at the beginning of every month in Taipan (USJ10) which is across the road from this project. Cars are being parked in USJ6 and creating a nuisance to residents," Hannah said after attending the public hearing organised by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) to hear the objections from residents.
More than 60 residents showed up for the hearing which was chaired by MPSJ Deputy President Mohamad Yusoff Ghazali.
The proposed development project if allowed to proceed will occupy 0.867 acres of the 1.5 acres land which is gazetted for Telekom Reserve, Mohamad Yusoff said.
"The land use for the land however is for commercial development. Our major concern is traffic and noise pollution if the project is allowed to proceed."
"We will consider the proposal and objections of residents in the coming one-stop-centres (OSC) meeting scheduled for the end of this month," he said, adding that the OSC had the authority to reject the project or forward the matter to the State Planning Committee headed by the Menteri Besar for a final decision.
The OSC comprises heads of department from other agencies and also the technical department.
USJ6 resident Lam Ah Onn who has his house facing the proposed project said residents wanted MPSJ to reject the project.
"There's enough commercial buildings around us," he said.
The land is owned by TM Facilities Sdn Bhd. It is understood from MPSJ that the developer Pujangga Budiman Sdn Bhd had entered into a joint venture project with TM Facilities Sdn Bhd to develop the commercial building.
