The Abbot of Subang Jaya Buddhist Association (SJBA), Bhante Nyanaramsi led a 3-persons delegation to Myanmar on 2nd June 2008, to bring medicines and financial assistance to the suffering victims of the recent devastating Nargis Cyclone.
The provision of medicine, food, medicine, etc earlier and now, the medicine and financial assistance is made possible by the generous donations from our kind-hearted members and devotees.
SJBA take this opportunity to thank members and devotees for their kindness and compassion in donating food, medicine, etc., and monies of more than RM 75,000.00. A symbolic handing over of the medicine and financial assistance to the delegation was held at the SJBA Shrine Hall.
The delegation brought the medicines and financial assistance to the Sitagu International Buddhist Missionary Centre at Yangon, Myanmar.
The Abbot and the devotees of the Centre have earned the respect of the cyclone victims and the world at large with their prompt relief effort for the suffering victims.
They gained access to the Irrawaddy delta regions where the worst starvation is taking place whereas most of the other aid groups are not able to gain access to.
The powerful Nargis Cyclone that slammed into Myanmar had triggered a devastating tidal wave that had killed thousands of people and many more have lost their homes. Rice fields are littered with corpses.
Many children are starving together with their parents. The generous contributions from kind-hearted Malaysians will bring a lot of relief to them.
The students and teachers of the SJBA Sunday Dhamma School who attended a Holiday Camp also responded by donating about USD 900.00 to the Myanmar victims.
