Division C, one of the Divisions of District 51 Toastmasters International (comprising Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei) will be conducting a Youth Leadership Programme in Subang Jaya from March 14-16 2008 to expose children to be budding impressive speakers and most important of all LEADERS.

This time round, the programme is open to children between the ages of 12 – 16 (ONLY).

The programme aims to tap the potential of the children and assist them to become a good communicators and leader given the opportunity to develop confidence and necessary skill, but this potential needs to be developed.

Running for three days, starting on Friday and ending with a contest on Sunday, the programme will be conducted in eight sessions,.Each sessione is conducted in a form of a meeting of one to two hours and it involves everyone. These sessions operate as a practical workshop with minimal lectures during which participants develop self-confidence as they learn.

Each Youth Leadership Programme Group is limited to between 20 and 25 pupils of the specified age group who have yet to develop the ability to express themselves. The limitation in the size of the group allows each participant to receive individual attention and the opportunity to get practical experience.

Participants work from a handbook from Toastmasters International in the United States and select officers who preside over the meetings. They are assigned duties on a rotatiional basis so that everyone is actively involved.

On the final day, parents are invited to witness and marvel at the transformation their children had undergone in a short span of 3 days.
