Where everybody knows your name...and the food is good too

FOR this month, we decided to go off our regular hunt for eating spots around Subang Jaya for a change.
Instead, we thought that we would look into what is available in this little community for a place to unwind and relax with family and friends.
So, when we got a call from Steven Goh, the Manager of Meeting Point Restaurant and Bistro in bustling SS 15, off we went one evening to check out this well-kept secret (not to the regulars though) haven.
Nestled along SS 15/4, Meeting Point, as the name suggests, is a place many would call “home away from home”, even for families who frequent the place for the good food, good drinks and good company.
Did we mention food? Yes. There is food here and to our pleasant surprise, exceptionally good, as what Steven would modestly say, “finger food”.
Soon he had us all licking our fingers as we enjoyed every single crumb of his servings. And mind you, these are not ordinary servings of French Fries and Buffalo Wings.
What lay before us was a gourmet, maybe even a buffet, with a few Western, Japanese and Chinese favourites.
First on the list was Crab Lagoon made out of crab meat with cheese fillings deep-fried in wantan skin. This was obviously one of Steven's creations, which oozed into the mouth with every bite.
Next, came the baby octopus with a generous mix of mayonnaise and served with a salad.
There is also Unagi (Japanese eel), Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab, Nine Vegetable Deep-Fried Wantan (vegetarian dish) and Spring Rolls. Not to be missed if you are at Meeting Point is the Steamed Kampung Chicken served chilled.
Many of the regulars would order this outlet's Lamb Chop served with “Steven's Sauce”.
Only chicken meat is used in all the dishes served, according to Steven, who hails from Kluang, Johor.
“We have families coming here to have dinner while the adults enjoy a drink or two.”
“You can call in and request for special home-made dishes and we will prepare them,” Steven, 49, who has spent most of his career overseas in the customer service industry, mainly in the food business.
From Monday to Thursday, Meeting Point has its Darts Challenge for those who fancy a game. Every Friday, it's Couple's Night, with ladies getting the first drink free.
On Saturdays, guests can put on their dancing shoes and jive away to the music.
