Blueprint for Selangor
Dialogue to develop Selangor's 3-year blueprint kicks off in Subang Jaya
RESIDENTS of Subang Jaya had the first dip in providing inputs for the development of Selangor’s three-year blueprint recently.
The first of 12 sessions involving all municipalities in the State got off on a good start with residents groups, non-government organisations and individuals sharing their “wishes” of what they wanted addressed from 2011 to 2013.
Selangor senior exco for investment, industry and trade Teresa Kok who closed the 3-hour dialogue session held at Empire Hotel said the State wanted to seek inputs from residents on development, infrastructure and policy issues via a town hall meeting concept for the blueprint.
“It’s a bottom-up approach to engage the public for inputs and participation.”
“All inputs and comments will be collated and analysed before the report is submitted. We are sure the plan will be dynamic and will also benefit the people,” she said, adding that sessions will also be conducted with representatives from the business and industry sector.
The draft of the blueprint is expected to be ready by October and tabled at the State Assembly by November this year.
Subang Jaya Municipal Council president Dato Adnan Md Ikshan who appeared pleased with the dialogue said the inputs provided by the various groups gave the organisers a big picture as well as provided issues at the local council level.
“I found the session an eye-opener as inputs also provided ideas and issues which MPSJ could address at the local level,” he said.
The dialogue which was conducted by Merdeka Centre on behalf of the State Government sought to identify short and mid-term issues to be addressed some of which may involve Federal and State Government cooperation and also evaluating the positive and negative effects of the State’s actions thus far.
1. Public transport, traffic congestion and acute shortage of parking space;
2. Maintenance of roads, playgrounds and low cost flats;
3. Imbalance of infrastructural development in municipality;
4. The need to introduce local council elections;
5. Cleanliness of food and business premises;
6. Selangor Government needs to improve its dissemination of information to the public;
7. The need to narrow the gap between leaders and the people;
8. Better monitoring of entertainment outlets in the State;
9. The need to reduce red tape for dealings with authorities;
10. Crime prevention
11. Implementation of free water for the poor. Many have not received their vouchers for free water.
The session in Subang Jaya was also attended by State exco Ronnie Liu and ADUN Subang Jaya Hannah Yeoh.
