USJ11/3 Gated and Guarded scheme garners support from house owners living inside its boundary
FOR residents and house owners of the 760 houses within the USJ11/3 Gated and Guarded scheme, the erection of fencing and closure of five out of nine access points to their area has brought a sense of security to themselves and their families.
Rather than have individual houses grilled up, locked and armed with the latest and most sophisticated alarm system, residents here have pooled together their resources and ideas to form what could now be one of the best examples of a G&G scheme.
Residents Association chairman Ng Peng Hin said residents were fed up with having to build their own fortresses to keep safe from rising crime around them.
“Although we initially faced some objections, we now have the majority of house owners behind us in our G&G scheme.”
“Within the G&G, people begin to feel safe and we now know our neighbours better,” he said.
Ng said out of the nine access points into USJ11/3, only four are now open for entry. Each entry point is watched over by security guards round-the-clock employed by residents.
“Initially, even I had to get used to driving a little further to get home but after awhile, I also do realize that this is only a small price to pay to have peace of mind,” he said.
Ng however added that residents were willing to bring down their fencing once the police force had sufficient manpower to deter and fight crime in Subang Jaya.
