GATED & GUARDED-JKP ZONE 1 COUNCILOR SHARES HER THOUGHTS
by SJECHO2 March 2010
MPSJ Councilor Theresa Ratnam Thong who chairs JKP Zone 1 has this to say about G&G:
1. Are guidelines being adhered to?
With more awareness on the matter, residents intending to consider G&G are seeking clarification with MPSJ on the matter. There are still pockets of residents who tend to see things differently and as such do go ahead with G&G, prior to seeking for any approvals.
2. What are the considerations for Emergency Services e.g. ambulance when entering a G n G area?
In the guidelines that are awaiting finalisation by the State Government, these have been stipulated. Having said that, Bomba does have the power to remove the barricades when they need to address emergency situations.
3. Is anything being done to ensure no one erects G n G haphazardly?
Yes, MPSJ is taking action on this once this is brought to the attention of MPSJ. Respective areas are given 7 days' notice to remove and submit application to MPSJ.
