NINE areas in Subang Jaya have reached the critical level for dengue cases, prompting the Subang Jaya Municipal Council to take immediate action to bring down the casualties.
MPSJ president Dato' Adnan Md Ikshan said the six areas identified as dengue hotspots were PJS7, PJS9, USJ2, SS14, SS18 and USJ11.
"Put aside some time on weekends to clean up your home and garden."
"Clear your home of unused items, containers and rubbish. This will help reduce potential mosquito breeding grounds," he said.
Over the coming weekend (Feb 27 & Feb 28), MPSJ will be conducting a "10 minutes" campaign to encourage house owners and occupants to clean up their homes.
On Saturday February 27, lorries will be sent to pick up rubbish cleared from homes starting from 10.30am in PJS7, PJS9 and USJ2.
On Sunday, February 28, lorries will be despatched to SS14, SS18 and USJ11 to pick up thrash from 10.30am as well.
"Please clear your homes of any potential breeding spots for the Aedes mosquito. Pack them up in rubbish bags and leave them in front of your home. MPSJ workers will be going around to clear them on the same day," he said at a press conference.
Adnan said MPSJ will then conduct spot checks on homes after the weekend exercise.
"The maximum compound of RM500 per breeding spot found in any home will be slapped on the owner," he warned.
Up to February 21 this year, 411 cases have been reported, with 263 cases turning out positive.
A total of 142 premises have been found breeding mosquitoes so far.
