Nabbed!
Subang Jaya police nab burglary suspect with help from SS14 residents.

HAVING just served two years under restricted residence and being put under police supervision obviously has not deterred a 43-year-old former drug addict from returning to his life of crime to pay for his addiction.
The suspect, a Eurasian Muslim convert, is believed to have started terrorizing the neighborhood of SS14 in Subang Jaya, where his family also resides, with his house-breaking and car break-in activities immediately after his return.
Several house break-ins have been reported in the vicinity, happening in the wee hours of the morning or late evenings, according to SS17 Police Station head Chief Inspector Sulaiman Baputty.
“We have been on the lookout for this lone ranger for some time now. The fact that the suspect could escape detection immediately after a crime is committed made us suspect that he was nearby.”
“Today (Feb 19), with the help of SS14 residents, we managed to detain the suspect,” he said.
The suspect was spotted by a house owner in his compound several days earlier. The house owner, who declined to be named, said it was a face-to-face encounter and the suspect threatened him with a sharp object before fleeing.
Today (Feb 19), the suspect was spotted by the house owner again and with the help of neighbors and passersby, they confronted the suspect, who immediately fled and ran into his own house.
With the help of several residents who came out of their house after hearing a commotion, the group cordoned off the house entrance and back door.
“We were on the lookout for the suspect immediately after we received the call from the house owner. Then I got a call telling me the suspect had gone into his own house.”
“I immediately called for backup and we entered the house to make the arrest,” Sulaiman said, adding that the suspect was identified as the same man who entered the resident’s house a few days earlier.
The suspect is expected to be remanded for further investigation.
The house owner said he was relieved with the arrest of the suspect.
“I can sleep better at night now knowing the man has been caught. The police and residents responded so quickly and that was how we succeeded in apprehending the suspect,” he said.
