WATER DISRUPTION

by SJECHO
7 February 2010

SEVEN hundred thousand consumers in Petaling, Kuala Lumpur and Gombak may experience some water supply disruption today (Feb 8 2010) due to a shutdown at the Sungai Selangor water treatment plant yesterday evening, according to Syabas corporate communication executive director Abdul Halem Mat Som.

"A major 1350 mm valve burst at 6pm yesterday and an emergency response plan (yellow code) has been activated by Syabas."

"We anticipate an unscheduled water disruption until 6pm today (Monday, Feb 8)," he said.

Abdul Halem said repair work is anticipated to take eight hours.

"Thirty five water tankers are being mobilised to handle any shortfall in water supply while Splash handles the repairs.
