Youth flees police road block
WHEN 17-year-old Muhammad Nor Haikal Abdul Muhit from Klang decided to take a joy ride in the night with his three friends, little did he realize he would land himself in hot soup.
The unlicensed driver ran through a road block set up by the SS17 police with a car borrowed from his friend’s brother.
A patrol car chased the fleeing youths until Bandar Sunway before successfully apprehending them. All four youths did not possess any driving license.
Not only did Muhammad Nor Haikal get an earful from Chief Inspector Sulaiman Baputty but the vehicle he was driving landed up being remanded at the police station.
“Running a police road block is an offense. If you have nothing to hide, why should you try to flee,” Sulaiman told the youths.
The SS17 police team was carrying out a routine crime prevention road block to check on vehicles passing through Subang Jaya.
“We will check cars and their passengers during our road blocks. Vehicles will be checked for concealed weapons as well,” he said.
According to Sulaiman, more checks and patrols will be conducted during the coming Chinese New Year to deter crime.
