Residents of SS15 Neighbourhood Watch meet up with police to discuss crime prevention
THE cooperation between the police and the SS15 Neighbourhood Watch group got a notch closer with a recent informal dialogue between them to discuss ways to work together to deter crime in the area.
Sharing the same stand that crime can be deterred with both parties working closely on initiatives to engage residents, the group and the SS17 police station head Chief Inspector Sulaiman Baputty exchanged ideas to better pave the way for the partnership.
For starters, the group will work towards establishing a police beat base in the area which will also be used by the police while on their rounds. The evening meeting discussed the best location for the beat base and how both parties could utilize the facility.
Other matters brought up include the presence of foreign beggars harassing the public for donations, the dark side lanes which are heavily used by pedestrians and also SS15 being a popular place for people to abandon stolen or old cars.
