RESOLUTIONS FOR 2010
Happy New Year! 2010 is now here. A brand new year would mean a brand new resolve. I have started to go less in www.usj.com.my as the forum has not gone to improve in its discussions.
I am still here looking at 2010 and hoping for a better Subang Jaya. I would like to again appeal to the councilors and MPSJ to look into the following issues with more urgency:
1. The councilors should all step forward and communicate to the public as what they would like to implement and plan for Subang Jaya. Some may say that this is not their job but as a layman, then tell us what their jobs are really?
2. The bus stops are still in bad shape. We need the bus stops spruced up.
3. SS15, Taipan and Taipan 2 need urgent cleanups. The business areas are filthy at the back lanes and the drains are filled with grease. I think there should be a law on food preparation at the back lanes. I think this should be outlawed!
4. The vicinity of KTM station is full of litter and there are unlicensed stalls at its entrance. Regulation is needed.
5. Massive jams now occur frequently at the base of the new Kelana Link near the SDMC/Metropolitan roundabout as well as the 3K sports complex.
6. There are still developments allowed at SS16 which are mostly residential developments in a commercial area. I understand they call themselves SOHO and Serviced apartments, but they do look like apartments to me. Just add security here and there plus some normal disposal of rubbish and we get serviced apartments. Is there something that can be done to control density and also the horrendous traffic?
7. We need improved pedestrian walkways as well as bicycle paths leading from the tamans to the business areas of Taipan, SS15 and SS16.
8. We would need to have the padangs within all the tamans patched up as some are with lots of bald and rocky surfaces.
9. There is a need to control the Gated and Guarded communities as some of them seem to think they can bulldoze their way and not look at ways to get residents to come together. At most times, I realize that some leaders are bent on getting their ideas through and forget the reason for communication and the attempt to convert non believers. With this, they have started the aggression and hide behind the excuse of “if you are not with us, you are against us” attitude. Sometimes I think that local elections will just breed more of these egos.
10. Greening Subang Jaya. We should require all developers to create green areas or adopt areas to green. Parkson has adopted an area at SS17 for this purpose and I do not see why other developers cannot. Sime Darby should be encouraged to participate in improving the greenery around Subang Jaya.
The 10 points mentioned are not too much to ask of the local councilors as well as MPSJ. It would be interesting to see whether anyone of them would actually come up to SJEcho and have their story written with reference to my thoughts.
2010 is a new year. This is a new year where we all have a chance to start working towards how we want Subang Jaya to be. It is time to remove our selfish needs and work towards a safer place. Most of us have this at heart. Why then, one would ask that I keep harping on the local councilors and MPSJ? My answer would be that if it is not them who help obtain and plan some framework with the social and economic aspects of Subang Jaya, why else should they exist?
As with the LRT, firstly, why should the station, if I understand correctly, be across the Federal Highway with a so called pedestrian connection to KTM? Why can it not be part of KTM? Do they know the walking distance across the Federal Highway to KTM?
Secondly, where in the world in Subang Jaya could one do a park and ride facility when there is not enough land? Mind you, there would be need to have new entrance and exit roads to and from the facility. Imagine the traffic chaos.
Thirdly, how can we believe the LRT will solve the transport problems when the bus services are ill planned and not punctual most of the time?
I think we are kidding ourselves when we support the LRT blindly. I plead that we do not just accept authority without question but we question the basic reason for such facility which will not benefit the township other than bringing more concrete and failed traffic flow into Subang Jaya.
Tell me if the Kelana Link has helped. I have used it often and the jams are worse now towards the Kesas junction and the Metropolitan College roundabout. I am harping like a parrot. So be it if frequency is needed to get some action.
Have we looked at ourselves in the mirror today? Do we like what we see?
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
