Recycling or Messing Up?

Irresponsible Alam Flora sub-contractors mess up neighbourhood roads
THE overzealousness of Alam Flora sub-contractors in “recycling” has earned them the wrath of MPSJ councilor Rajiv Rishyakaran.
Workers of the sub-contractor were caught in the act of sorting out waste from a restaurant in USJ3A, disregarding the waste water of rotting food which flowed onto neighbourhood roads in the process.
The workers were seen opening up bags containing food waste, emptying out the bags onto the back of the lorry in their search for items to be recycled.
All this while, waste water from the rotting food was dripping on the back lane road, causing a stench in the surrounding area.
What was not recyclable, the workers just dumped onto the back of the lorry, minus the plastic bags used to contain them.
Rajiv who was in the area for a function expressed his disgust at the practice which had been told to him but he has never personally come across it until then.
“I will ensure that MPSJ takes stern action on this Alam Flora sub-contractor. Their job is to collect rubbish, not sort them out in open residential areas.”
“The mess is all over the road. The stench is unbearable and there’s a house just over this wall (houses line the back lane next to the shop houses),” he said.
Rajiv said he wanted a stop to such practices and will personally take the matter up to MPSJ and Alam Flora.
Before he left, Rajiv took note of the vehicle registration number and details of the sub-contractor stated on the door of the lorry.
If you see such things happening in your neighbourhood, take a photograph and send them to editor@sjecho.com.my.
