MAMEE FOR MUMMIES!

Growing children get hungry really fast as every parent knows. Single parents with slender incomes face a major problem meeting the hungry tots’ needs for constant food and the weakening economic situation where salaries are reduced and jobs are scarce making it all the more harder for single parents today.

Food manufacturer Mamee Double Decker opted to assist single parents within the Subang and Sunway area with some of their signature products – Mamee Sllrrrp! Instant noodles, Mister Potato Crisps, Double Decker Mini Cheese Rings, Mamee Monster snack, and  Nutrigen ABC Cultured Milk Drink”.

Some five members of Mamee Double Decker’s marketing and brand executives – Diyana Shahrum, Lee Pei Shan, Joseph Dhevan, Joan Yep Mei Yee and trainee Loo Jo Lin,  descended on Jumble Station’s second hand shop at Angsana Flats, Subang Mewah USJ1 to hand over the food items to some of the single parents and the poorer folks there. The balance of the donated foodstuff went to single parents and their kids at Lembah Subang and Desa Mentari, at Sunway.

On hand to receive the goodies were single grandmother Opah and her daughter Musita, who is also a single mother with one son; Rainah Kinsang from Sabah, a mother of four boys whose spouse drowned while fishing; Panjalai a kindergarten helper with two college going kids; Adrian Ong, a single father and JS helper; Nani, a single mother of six children and Irene Thung, a single mother of two school going boys.

Jumble Station’s single parent co-ordinator for Lembah Subang Ms Venie received the goods on behalf of the single parents and their children at her rented flat. On hand as well to receive the goods were several kids, from the youngest Ashwin,5, to Thanesh Kumar,15, who were more than happy to wade into the many goodies and walked off happily with their little bundle of snack delights.

At Desa Mentari, near Sunway, Jumble Station’s single parent co-ordinator Mary Arokiadass was equally delighted to receive Mamee Double Decker’s largesse. Accompanied by some children of single parents, Jason 12, Silas 10, Jamie 9 and Jaes Kumar 12, she happily came to collect the Mamee foodstuffs only to have a curious resident asking what was going on.  She learnt later that the resident is coincidentally also a single mother but one who has yet to register her!

Mamee’s generosity allowed some 100 single parents to feed approximately 400 children  and we hope many more corporations will emulate them in assisting those in need in very practical ways. Kudos to the Mamee Double Decker team from Subang Jaya for this compassionate gesture in these tough times!

Parents without Partner is singularly focused on assisting Single Parents in need while its social entrepreneurship arm, Jumble Station collects unwanted or donated items for the benefit of poor single parents.
